World Health Day-2017 observed in Meherpur


The World Health Day-2017 observed here on 7 April in a befitting manner duly organized by Civil Surgeon Office. To mark the day a colorful rally brought out in the town led by Dr. Alok Kumar Das, Acting Civil Surgeon that paraded from Pouro Idgah area and ended at Civil Surgeion’s office  premises.
The theme of the day is “Depression:Let’s talk”.
After termination of the rally a lively discussion meeting on the occasion was held at Civil Surgeon’s office conference hall with Dr. Alok Kumar Das, Acting  Civil Surgeon in the chair.
Ahsan Habib, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dr. Romesh Chandra Nath, President, Bangladesh Medical Association, Dr. S M Ehsanul Kabir, Resident Medical Officer, 250-Bed General Hospital, Rafiqul Alam, President, Medherpur District Development Forum attended the meeting as guests and spoke on the occasion.
Administered by Abdus Salam, EPI Superintendent, Kazi Rowshon Nahar, Senior Health Education Officer gave the speech of welcome and Dr. Rumana, Medical Officer among others addressed.  
Speakers told the meeting that according to survey conducted  in 2003-05 4.6% people are attacked with depression in the country which increasing alarmingly. World Health Organization (WHO) in a review revealed that 7 to 52 percent  causes alone ofsuicide.Within 2030 the depression will touch the topped of “Global Disease Burden”.
