Meherpur district administration, District Woman Affairs office and Jatiya Mohila Sangstha jointly observed the International Woman Day-2017 today(8 March) in a befitting manner.

The theme of the day is BeBold For Change – encouraging people to step up and take groundbreaking action to help drive gender equality. It focuses on ‘Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2050’.  

On the occasion a discussion meeting was held at Shilpokola academy with A K M Shafiul Azam, District Women Affairs Office in the chair. In the absence of Deputy Commissioner Assistant Commissioner of DC’s Office Arfif Hossain was present as chief guest.  Shamimara Hira, President, Jatiya Mahila Sangstha, Dr. Rumana, Civil Sugeron’s representative, Rumana Ahmmed, Upazila Woman Vice Chairman, Rafiqul Alam, President, National Women Repression Prevention Forum, Rakib Hossain, Assistant Engineer, Local Government Engineering Department, Mosharaf Hossain, President, NGO forum, Mosharaf Hossain, District BRAC Representative were present as special guests.

Among others, Faruk Hossain, Senior Manager, Save the Children, Rajia, Executive Director, Punorvoba Nari Kallyan Samity among others addressed the meeting.  

To mark the day a colorful procession was brought out in the town and paraded the main street and terminated on Shilpokola premises.
