A huge human chain was formed on Friday afternoon on Meherpur-Kushtia
highway near Gangni bus-stand where the effigy of peace Nobelist(!) Aung San Suu Kyi burnt protesting
the atrocities, killings, harassment and rape of the Rohingya people in
Myanmar.
Chiared by
Hazi Mohsin Ali, President, Gangni Jame Masjid, nearly 10 thousands people including children took
part in the human chain and among others addressed by M A Khaleque, General
Secretary, District Awami League, Mazirul Islam, Member, Mehrpur Zilla
Porishod, former Upazila Chairman Advocate Shafiqul Alam, Gangni Thana BNP
General Secretary Asaduzzaman Bablu, eminent business men Hazi Alfazuddin, Dr.
Robiul Islam.
The
speakers called upon the Myanmar authority to immediately cease the killings,
harassment and rape of the Roghingya people, and the burning of the homes. They
also called to take back the Rohingya people to their own homeland.
Nearly ten
thousand people including adolescents protested
waving
placards inscribed different slogans. After termination of human chain
they set the effigy of Aung San Suu Kyi on
fire there.
