Preparatory meeting held
to observe mourning day in Meherpur
A
preparatory meeting was held on 31 July at Zilla Porishod auditorium to observe the National Mourning Day and 42nd
martyrdom anniversary of the Architect of Independence and Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 in the district with
Parimal Shingha, Deputy Commissioner in the chair.
Among others Mokbul Hossain, MP, Alhaj Golam Rasul, District Council Chairman, Dr. G K M shamsuzzaman, Civil Surgeron, Mayor Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Khairul Hasan, Deputy Director, Local Government, Abdullah Al Mahmud, Additinal Police Super and Ashraful Islam, Mayor Gangni were present as guests.
The district administration
have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.
The programmes, include hoisting of the national flag at half-mast in all the government, the semi-government, the autonomous and the private buildings, mourning processions and discussion meetings.
Discussion meetings on the life and deeds of Bangabandhu will be arranged in the district and upazila headquarters, schools, colleges, madrasas and special doa-mahfils and prayers will be offered at all religious institutions. Competitions on painting, essay writing, Hamd and Nath, poems will be held and discussions focusing Bangabandhu and true national history will be arranged.
The district and upazila units of AL and its associate organizations and Muktijoddha Sangshads have also chalked out elaborate programmes in observance of the day in the district and upazila headquarters in a befitting manner, it has learnt,
In Meherpur district town, floral wreaths will be placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Deputy Commissioner’s office premises after termination of the mourning procession where hundreds of mourners from all sections of people will participate in the programmes. District Information Office will screen documentary films ‘Chironjib Bangabandhu’, ‘Swadhinota Amar Swadhinota’ and ‘Bangabandhu: Bangladesh ’ at Government Boys School premises.
Similar programmes would be executed in sadar and Gangni upazila, according to meeting decision.
