The journalists of Meherpur district formed human chain in front of local press club on 5 February morning demanding arrest of the killer of Shahjadpur upazila Samakal representative, Abdul Hakim Shimul. 
Among others, former president of Meherpur Reporters Unity journalist Rafiqul Alam, Mazedul Haque Manik, Amirul Islam, Omor Faruk Prince, president of Mujibnagar Upazial Press Club addressed. 
Speakers from the human chain said, showing the thumb to the bar of police Mayor of Shahjadpur under Sirajgonj district shot dead the Samakal representative Shimul and demanded immediate arrest of the killer and bring to book. They also told about the recent repression on ATN Bangla reporter and camera person by the police. They also demanded withdrawal of false cases lodged against the editor of The Daily Observer also Prime Minister’s Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury otherwise journalists would be opened their pens to uphold the corruptions rendered by influential irrespective party affiliations. They urged the government to take immediate and effective steps to the effect.
