Chemically treated immature mango destroyed

MEHERPUR, MAY 19: Meherpur district administration destroyed huge quantum of chemically treated immature mangoes on Wednesday night worth more than taka 3 lakhs fifty thousand.
On secret information a mobile court led by Maynul Hasan, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer along with Magistrate Zubayer Hossain Chowdhury,  of District Administraton raided the village Amjhupi Joardarpara under Sadar upazila in the night on Wednesday and managed to hold a truck (Dhaka Metro-TA-16-0807) with 6000 kgs of mangoes which are immature and chemically treated. The mango loaded truck was taken to the collectorate compound. The traders and driver of the truck  managed to flee the spot.
Later the mobile court destroyed the chemically treated himsagore and nengra mangoes under the wheel of the truck in front of DC office which were scheduled to be harvested from 25 May and 30 May respectively where Deputy Commissioner Parimal Singha, Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension S M Mustafizur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Khairul Hasan, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Maynul Hasan, A K M Kamruzzaman, Sadar Upazila Agricultural Officer among others were present at the time.
Mentionable, the District Administration hold a meeting  on 11 MAY with the mango traders and orchard owners and fixed the dates of mango harvesting of different species.
