As per directives of the Home Ministry, the District Narcotics Control Department has started a month long anti-drug drive and publicity campaign in the district.
To mark the occasion a colourful rally was brought out in the town today from city’s bus stand area to collectorate building compound which was led by Khairul Hasan, Additional Deputy Magistrate. The program was organized jointly by the District Administration and the District Narcotics Control Department.
After ending the rally a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the collectorate building with Khairul Hasan, Additional Deputy Magistrate in the chair where Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner was present as chief guests and formally inaugurated anti-drug drive month.
Moderated by Aftab Ahmed of Dy. Commissioner’s office Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Director, Narcotics Control Department. Kushtia gave the welcome of address.
Shaikh Mustafizur Rahman, Senior Assistant Police Super, Farooque Hossain, Senior Manager, Save the children, Kazi Rowshon Ara, Senior Health Education Officer, Civil Surgeon’s Office, Masudul Hasan, Representative of Government College, Journalists Rafiqul Alam, Rashid Hasan Khan among others spoke on the occasion.
Hundreds of cross section people including college students joined the rally.
According to office source, Narcotics Control Department chalked out different programs to make the initiative successful in the district. The programs include, anti-drug discussion meeting at educational institutions, formation of human chain against drug to create awareness, pasting of stickers on transports, anti-drug rally with the participation of stakeholders, leaflet distribution, hanging of posters and banners, screening of short film on drug abuse, conducting mobile court, sermon on Friday in the masjids of the district about drugs.
