NHRC Chairman visits Meherpur

Jointly organized by District Administration and a local Non-Government Organization Manob Unnayan Kendra (MUK) an opinion exchange meeting on “The role of National Human Rights Commission to save the human rights” was held on Tuesday at Deputy Commissioner’s conference room with Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Commissioner in the chair.

Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahmah, Chiarman, National Human Rights Commissioner attended the meeting as chief guest while Selina Hossain, Member, National Human Rights Commission, Hamidul Alam, Superintendent of police were present as special guests.

Administered by M Rabiul Islam, Assistant Director, National Human Rights Commission Asaduzzaman Selim, Executive Chief of Manob Unnayan Kendra gave the address of welcome and  Jahid Hossain, Expert (Monitoring and Evaluation) of the commission explained the activities of the commission through power point presentation.

In the open discussion among others, Abdur Rahim, Noorjahan, Vice-Presidents, National Woman Oppression Prevention Forum, Abdur Rakib, Dilruba Sultana, Abdur Rashid, Ashkar Ali took part. Kazi Arfan Ashik, Deputy Director and Farhana Sayeed, Public Relation Officer of the commission were present during the time.

Public servant, journalists, human rights workers, elite of civil society and students of colleges attended the program.

Before holding the meeting the chairman of the commission paid a visit to Meherpur General Hospital.He expressed his dissatisfaction seeing the overall plight of the hospital as there is no requisite doctors and supporting staff.
