Seminar and workshop held to reduce road mishap in Meherpur


Jointly organized by the  District Administration and the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Meherpur a day-long seminar and training workshop was held on  “In order to  road safety and reduce the mishap” with the professional  vehicles drivers in the conference room of the collectorate building on 28 June. Toufiqur Rahman, Additional Deputy Magistrate chaired the program.

Mohammed Anwar Hossain, Deputy Commissioner being the chief guest inaugurated the seminar and workshop. It was addressed  by Zilla Porishod Chairman Haji Golam Rasul, Meherpur Press Club General Secretary Rafiqul Alam and Assistant Police Super, Liakot Hossain as guest of honor.

The program was administered by  S M Shabuj, Motor Vehicle Inspector who gave the welcome address. Abu Hossain Khan Babu, founder president of Truck  Labor Union and Motiar Rahman, General Secretary, Motor Sromik Union among others addressed.  
The chief guest in his speeches said that according to a survey as many as 20 thousands people meet the tragic end every year in the country owing to road mishap and quoting the BUET he added that 42 per cent road accident is occurred  here for faulty frequentation by the pedestrians.

Before the seminar a colorful rally led by Toufiqur Rahman, Additional Deputy Magistrate brought in the town from the office compound of the DC and after parading the main road it ended at the same place. Cross section of people including a host of motor labourers join the rally and training workshop.
